Detectives Investigate Inmate Death; Does Not Appear Suspicious in Nature (26-071)

PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 74-year-old Harold Finch.

Detectives say Finch was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on May 28, 2026, for Sexual Battery- Child Under 12.

According to detectives, on July 26, 2026, Finch was transported to the hospital due to preexisting medical conditions. Finch was pronounced deceased on August 7, 2026, at 1:31 p.m.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Finch sustained any injuries which may have contributed to his death while incarcerated at the jail.

Finch’s next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
